Interview with porn actor Dominic Arrow, a candid look at his personal experiences

Why did you become a porn actor?

For several reasons, really. I grew up on stage and I love attention, love sensuality and sexuality. These things hold a very important meaning to me and my life. However, even though I was a performer I never really had 100% confidence in myself.

I had a big change in my life last year January, when I needed to realize that the world doesn’t always work in a way I expected, but now I can enjoy myself more and get what I want from life. I’ve learned to

‘Use what you have to get what you want’. Of course that was the time I was living with Darius Ferdinand, award winning porn star, so I guess he thought me a lot and he helped me get in contact with studios.

It is widely known that drugs are a major problem within the gay community, how have drugs affected you?

My relationship with drugs started much earlier in my life, before I started porn. For years, I lived in London, where drugs were a massive part of my life. I was Addicted. You know a party animal, going from party to party. I was even 10 kg less than I weigh now. It was the people I knew and hung out with and at that time I felt that I needed to be part of that to help to get recognized. Don’t get me wrong of course at the time I did enjoy it, but I did lose my marriage due to this lifestyle. I also lost my real personality for a period and I lost the honest people around me, because I stayed in a drug cloud searching for attention. I look back and I don’t feel ashamed and I have no regrets. I needed to experience that side of life to know if I would like it or not. I truly feel that period of my life made me much stronger person and today I can say I’m no longer addicted and that’s all that matters.

Dominic I know that this industry is highly competitive, what has this meant to you?

My life was all about competition, working on stage since I was 7 years old. Yes, the porn industry is so competitive, daily new models appear on the market. I guess every one of them are trying to do anything possible to get where they want. Mostly, however, there are expectations of what we should and have to bring to each performance. Sometimes you can get lost in the character and your personality. Fans also have expectations. If you want to keep your fans and popularity you have to feed them every day. You also have to work hard on getting new fans daily. Being a porn actor doesn’t just involve shooting a movie, I see it as a 24/7 job answering your Facebook messenger, updating, uploading, liking, sharing, tweeting and all of the other social media things.

As a porn actor, how have people judged you?

Well, this has actually surprised me. Generally, I get much more positive reactions than I thought. On the other hand, if you are a bit different than the “standard” expectation of a gay porn actor, then you get questioned about why you are different. I LOVE what I do, I love porn, love meeting new and interesting people and traveling all around the world.

Dominic, are you single or in a relationship? And what’s the reality behind dating/relationships as a porn actor?

About me? Well, I do have someone in my heart. However, the reality of dating as a porn actor? If u want a normal stable relationship, you have to be lucky to find someone who can handle this pressure and lifestyle, some of my friends and colleagues found this, but in reality, not many people want to date a porn actor.

What’s the one thing you love and the one thing you hate about this industry?

What I love is feeling the support from people around me who share the same things as I do daily and who help me to stay or even grow in the industry. I don’t think I really hate anything.

When you get recognised or meet fans in public what do you really thing about this situation?

That’s one of the reason why I do what I do, I love fans reactions. It makes me feel that I’m on the right path. As long as person respect your work, you should be thankful and glad of that person’s attention. And most importantly it gives me much more confidence.

How seriously do these porn studios take the importance of sexual health for their actors?

I can say, the companies I have worked with, most of them were testing models and you have to be tested if your partner asks. So, in my experience they have taken it serious.

How has PREP affected the porn industry?Well, it has opened the doors for bareback studios and made studios change from safe movies to BB!

As our Sexual culture is changing every day, so is the Porn industry. Obviously, since PREP is more available, people prefer to engage in more unsafe sex and watching more bareback movies.

What’s the worst experience you have had as a porn actor?

I don’t think anything I’ve experienced yet can be described as a bad experience. Ask me again in about two months after this interview 😂
